Description An LCD 1602 (16×2) character display without an I2C module utilizes a parallel interface powered by the Hitachi HD44780 controller chip. It features 16 bare pins that connect directly to your microcontroller. It is typically operated in 4-bit mode to reduce the required microcontoller pins from 11 down to 6 GPIO control/data pins.
